It was four years ago on this day – Oct 3rd – when we tried to leave Europe and head to Australia but we couldn’t. The decision that our family shall go and see what life looks like in the kangaroo lands was taken spontaneously in the late summer of 2015, somewhen between the 2 wonderful weeks we had spent in America and the vacation we were going to have in Bulgaria.

Ihadn’t heard about this film until a week ago, when a friend mentioned how good it was so we dedicated this week’s family movie night to Christopher Robin and his bitter-sweet yet astonishing story. I was surprised to discover that although everyone knows everything about Winnie the Pooh, including myself, the biography of its literary “father” A.A.Milne and his son Billie Moon has somehow escaped my attention.

Тoday I finally decided to put on e-paper one of the greatest mysteries which has been tormenting me for years – where do birds go when they die? We’ve been living in houses with gardens since 2006, and for this same period of time we’ve wandered through endless flatlands and mountains abundant with fauna. There are literally millions of birds out there that hatch, embellish our world and then retreat to the birds’ paradise but what happens with their remains?

One of the first things a novice in Sydney normally goes through is the Holy Tourist Trinity – opera house, bridge, fish market. A day or two upon arrival Down Under, we felt compelled to take a turn, too. I still remember our first (and endless) bus ride along the Northern Beaches, I remember that we liked Harbour Bridge very much and were dismayed by the Sydney Fish Market.

I found this recipe in “Women’s Weekly” – my favourite cooking knowledge source – and we all fell in love with the result. Pork with sage and apples is a divine combination which reminds me of fireplaces, candles and winter. As a family of 4 with 2 teenagers, we need multitude of food and quick but fancy dinner dishes so this recipe went straight to my list of The Best Ever one-pot recipes.
